Catherine's Baptism

My week was pretty good. Pretty long too
actually but so I hear it goes at the start of a new transfer with a
change.

So the party for our President and Sister Bowen was pretty great. (I
did not help plan it. Just showed up for the free food and
entertainment) there was a whole pig. It was gross. Yet fascinating.
Didn't taste very good though. Probably because they let the Elders
cook it. . .
So annoyed.

Well it looked appetizing didn't it?

This week we went to eat at a members house. And this member always feeds us a mountain of food. Seriously. Enough to feed like a family of six. It's crazy. So we went to our dinner appointment with the other sisters and started eating the food she dished us up. The food is great, tastes good and all that jazz but there was soooo much. I couldn't eat it all. No one could. So instead of making ourselves sick we just didn't eat all of it. Bad idea apparently. She was not happy. She laid the guilt trip on thick. We need to be more grateful, we are being wasteful. It pains her heart that we didn't eat it all. We should tell whoever is feeding us to give us less so we don't waste food that others could eat (we asked her three times to give us less before the meal). She even started crying. I really did feel bad, but I really was full. So bad news: got chewed out. Good news: I understood it all in Spanish. Win in my book.

Catherine got baptized this week!! Woot woot. It was all so cute. I'm so happy for her.  She was so happy and excited all day. Her whole family wore purple for her, her favorite color. Afterwards she bore her testimony. It was so good and so strong. Man I love that little girl.

Sister Noel and I are getting along really well. We like a lot of the same things and have a similar sense of humor. So that's good. She is a really good missionary. I'm going to learn so much. Spanish, gospel, how to teach. It's all in there.

We found some cool new investigators this week. One guy is so cool that he listens to classical music while he cooks and plays the piano all day on his day off. If that's not cool I don't know what is. I'm excited to teach all these new people. We just need to find members to go out with us. Biggest stress in my mission life. Go out with the missionaries family! Just do it. They will love you forever and you'll get blessings.

Anyways. I can't remember all what I wrote you the first time. Sorry about that. But I love you guys. Hope that you have a good week and be safe and happy and stuff.

Oh remind next week to re tell you about Pavolvs dogs. Hehe

What did the lonely Spanish chicken say to the other? Necesite más apoyó (pollo) hehe

Transfers

Okay so this week has been pretty good. It was. Sister budges last
week which was sad but good. Who we worked hard and stuff. Ya know,
like missionaries do.

However. Tuesday. We both were sick. Sick sick sick. I think it was
the flu. It was the worst. We just curled up on our floor and watched
the district and slept all day. Couldn't even eat and that's the
highlight of a missionaries day right there. But we are better. Except
for then sister budge got sick again yesterday (Sunday) so we only
were able to go to sacrament meeting. She came home and slept for a
while and I made a serious dent in the book of Mosiah.

Also I've found a new love for the teachings of king Benjamin. Holy
guacamole. Good stuff right there. I dare you to read it this week.
It'll make you feel inspired and whatnot. I promise. The scriptures
are just good. All of them. And it all really happened which is the
best part.

So today is transfers. Woot woot. I'm staying in Santa Ana 11, as
predicted. And my new companion is- drum roll please- Hermana Noel!
Woot woot. Don't know much about her still but I think we will get
along just swimmingly. She had a transfer and a half left so Ill
probably be killing her too (killing as in last companion before she
goes home. Like me and sister Budge) I think president is trying to
make to trunky already. Well guess what pres? It's not going to work.

Today we are also doing a surprise party thing for president and
sister Bowen. Since they're leaving in three weeks. It was our mission
secretary's idea. Not sure how well the mission president likes being
surprised by his whole mission ... But what can you do? I'll let you
know how it goes next week.

So this week while sister budge was at her departing dinner I hung out
with sister Nnah and Galicia. I helped sister Nnah take her hair our
of braids so she could get it redone the next day. Man that girl has
an Afro. I was maybe a little jealous and super impressed. While we
were doing it we got to watch the Joseph Smith movie and the
Testaments  . . . In English! Booyah.

I have been drawn. Sweet little Leevany drew both sister Budge and I
this week. I was honored. I'll show you the picture. I love that
little family. And Catherine's getting baptized on Sunday! And I'm
going to take the liberty to say that her dad isn't so far off either.
Woot woot! So excited

As far as new investigators go, still looking. But we did find a girl
named Genovi. We had to miss our appointment since we were sick... But
we did show up at her house later to reschedule. And she said she
actually read the restoration pamphlet we gave her. Whaaa?! Let me
tell you. That hardly ever happens. So it's a big deal when it does. I
hope she really did. Guess we will find out tomorrow :)

Anywhoo love you guys you're great. Stay healthy.

Finding Time

This week was missionary-ish

Not really sure what to write about. I had my first Hispanic style
elote. So that was neat. Corn on the cob with mayo with parmesan
cheese with chili pepper. It was pretty good if I do say so. We just
spent most of Pday at the park playing around and eating and talking
with members and stuff. It was a fun Memorial Day.

None of our investigators are really progressing right now so we are
going to have to do some serious funding this week. Well, we have one
progressing. Her name is Catherine and she is 8 almost 9 and her mom
is a member who we are re activating. They are the people whose
wedding we went to a while ago. Remember?  Anyways. Catherine is
getting baptized on the 22 and I'm so excited. She is so cute and so
excited. Yeep.  She is cool.

Oh we had exchanges this week. I hung out with sister Holzer from
Bountiful Utah. You'd be surprise just how many people out here are
from bountiful sheesh. Anyways. She is very nice and pretty quiet. We
stayed in my area this time and so I had to A TON of Spanish speaking
all on my own since she didn't really know any of my investigators.
And she's quiet. But that's okay. I totally know and understand
Spanish more than I thought I did. Given there are still a few people
out there who just talk so fast and have accents I'm not used to or
talk so quiet. So I just nod and change my facial expressions
depending in what I think they're saying.  So yeah. I know that The
Lord helps us when we need Him. I prayed super hard to be able to
speak and understand and he blessed me with that. Just have to have
the faith to dive in and go for it and He will make sure we accomplish
what He has asked us to do.

The missions turning me into quite the little rebel. I drink my milk
from the carton some days so that's what's up. AND I chew gum all
morning long through studies. I'm bad to the bone.

Anyways like I said most if our investigators shafted us. Lame. Yeep
so finding it is. Cant remember what else happened this week. Met a
cool lady named Norma who seems interested but her family is very
catholic so we will see how that goes.

Other than that I finally bout me a hippy headband and did a face mask
with sister budge and ate a butterfinger on Sunday. I know know so
excited. Can't help it. Just try not to get too jealous.

Yeep well I hope y'all have a good week. And be safe and happy and
stuff. Love ya!
